New VW models: What's coming by 2026?
VW's focus is strongly on electric cars, and in the next few years some new models with electric drive will be launched on the market. We'll tell you what's planned until 2026.
VW has ambitious plans despite, or mainly because of, the current crisis, because by 2026, every fourth VW model sold is to be an electric car. Therefore, a whole series of new electric cars are planned for the coming years, but there will also be facelifts of popular combustion models. We'll tell you what the manufacturer is planning.
The focus is clearly on electric cars. If you are interested in a VW in general, the manufacturer already has a few models on offer.
When will there be new VW models?
VW has planned a lot of new models for the next few years, most of them electric. This means that the ID. family will definitely expand.
From 2025
VW Tayron

There will be a replacement for the Tiguan Allspace – and it's called the Tayron. The new SUV was unveiled on October 9, 2024 and is expected to be available for pre-order soon. Deliveries will then take place in 2025 for the new vehicle between the Tiguan and Touareg.
VW Transporter T7

The seventh generation of the van is in the starting blocks and will be released in early 2025. Prices are not yet known, but the T7 comes in numerous variants and drives. Among other things, there are electric variants, a plug-in hybrid, gasoline, diesel and also the VW Caravelle as a large-capacity taxi or shuttle for passenger transport.
VW T-Roc

Volkswagen's popular SUV will get one last completely new series as a combustion engine in 2025. The T-Roc 2025 is to be officially presented at the IAA in the fall and continue the success story as a completely renewed overall package.
VW Golf 4Motion

In spring 2025, the Golf 4Motion is also to return and bring all-wheel drive back into the compact class. After the facelift for the eighth Golf was introduced in 2024, including GTI and R variants, the all-wheel-drive variant will probably follow in 2025.
From 2026
VW ID.2

Now it's official: The VW ID.2 will come. VW had presented the study vehicle in mid-March 2023. The small electric car is expected to cost less than 25,000 euros and be equipped with all kinds of the latest technologies. Now we have the first prototype pictures of the electric small car. The presentation of the small car is expected in 2025, whether the market launch will come then is questionable, Volkswagen is planning for 2026.
VW ID.2 SUV
In addition to the small car, there will also be an SUV variant of the ID.2. More detailed details about the derivative of the ID.2 should be available along with more information about the main ID.2 model from 2025.
VW ID. GTI Concept

On September 3, 2023, VW presented the electric ID. GTI concept and showed what the VW sports models will look like in the future. It will take until at least 2026 for the electric GTI, which will probably be called the ID.2 GTI, to hit the road – but the model has already been confirmed.

VW Trinity
The Trinity vehicle project has so far only been vaguely outlined. In any case, it is intended to usher in the next generation of VW electric vehicles, with more range, less charging time and CO2-neutral production. Level 4 autonomous driving is also planned. Production is scheduled to start at the end of 2025 at the earliest, possibly not until 2026.
VW ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7 Facelift

In addition to the ID.2, Volkswagen's existing ID. models will get their facelifts from 2026. In terms of design, these are likely to be based on that of the ID.2, which is supposed to be more similar to the classic look of the combustion models. In addition, there will also be improvements to the engines and batteries of the models, so that longer ranges will be possible.
VW Golf and T-Roc full hybrid
In 2026, the full hybrid for the VW Golf is to build another important bridge between combustion engines and electric cars. Until now, Volkswagen had not really invested in full hybrid technology, but now it is to work as an interim solution until electric mobility is better adopted. We expect further details about the Golf and T-Roc as full hybrids from 2025.
VW ID.EVERY1

The last of the three China-exclusive models in the bunch is the VW ID AURA. As the ID.7 equivalent, it makes some design changes to the electric sedan. In general, the three newly introduced concept models have appeared with a decidedly more modern look. It remains to be seen whether these will then also be introduced as series models in China and whether the design will also have an impact on the models sold in Europe and Germany.
